Starting from various factors causing the errors of earth resistance, and by using some actual examples, this paper analyzes the reasons causing the errors of the value of earth resistance, expounds how to control and reduce the errors as much as possible for increasing the accuracy of the value of earth resistance and make the security of the lightning protection system （LPS） be increased greatly.
