Synthesis and characterization of a new liquid crystalline tetramer

摘要 合成了一种新型的四液晶基元化合物,其分子中含有2个胆固醇基团和2个席夫碱基团,这4个液晶基元以柔性间隔段相连,使用热台偏光屁微镜(POM)和差示扫描量热法(DSC)对该四液晶基元化合物的液晶性能进行了表征,结果表明它在加热过程中较宽的温度范围内(198—307℃)形成胆甾相液晶。 A new liquid crystalline tetramer, which contains two cholesterol-based mesogculc units and two Schiff base moieties, and the four moieties which are connoted via flexible spacers, are synthesized. Its liquid cry. stalline properties are also characterized by differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and polarizing optical microscope coupled with hot stage (POM). The results show it is cholesteric liquid crystal over a wide temperature range (198- 307℃).
