大连远洋运输公司是中国远洋运输（集团）总公司所属的大型航运企业，是中远集团旗下唯一以液体散货运输为主的专业化运输公司。1978年1月1日，伴随着共和国改革开放的大潮，大连远洋运输公司（以下简称大远公司）在黄海和渤海环抱的北方明珠大连应运而生，开启了一次搏风激浪、铿锵雄浑的探索之旅，

'Dalian is located at the important point of the northeast Asia Economic Zone and Bohai Economic Rim, in close proximity to Japan, the Korean peninsula and the Far Eastern regions of Russia. Since its establishment over a hundred years ago, Dalian has gained its fame via port activities, and become a crucial shipping hub in northern China. It has developed trade relationships with over 160 countries and 300 ports worldwide. In 2003, Beijing targeted to develop Dalian as an important international shipping centre in northeastern Asia. 'The citys’ strategic location and long trad-ing history convince that it will be a very strong maritime hub for years to come. With its unique advantage, Dalian is fast devel-oping shipping and shipbuilding industries which are in a leading position in China. In this special column, as the examples of the Dalian shipping industry, COSCO Dalian, COSCO Industry, COSCO Shipyard and PDA Corporation show their developments and achievements to the readership.
