19世纪英国小说家简·奥斯丁在她的代表作《傲慢与偏见》中,通过娴熟运用各种反讽,将小说主题,即当时社会以追求金钱和地位为目的的婚姻观淋漓尽致地展现出来;将小说中的各种人物生动逼真地塑造出来。
As an art technique in the literature, irony includes four major types： verbal irony, dramatic irony, structural irony and mode irony. According to Forster and Harding, characters in novels can be divided into fiat characters and round characters （cartoon characters and sketch characters）. In Jane Austin＇s masterpiece Pride and Prejudice, the skilful use of various ironic means thoroughly manifested the theme of people＇s blind pursuit of money and social status by marriage at that time, and shaped a variety of vivid characters. This paper is aimed to make a brief analysis of the use of irony in stressing the theme and characters in Pride and Prejudice
