On the Misconceptions and Misinterpretations in the Studies of English Proverbs and Idioms

英语谚语和习语有共性,更有各自的个性。它们在形式、内容、特点等方面有不容混淆的差异,属于两个不同的语言范畴。长期以来,学术界在英语谚语和习语的研究中存在一些误区,应该得到澄清和纠正。

English proverbs and idioms have something in common, yet there are also lots of inconfusable differences between them. Unfortunately, there have long existed misconceptions and misinterpretations in the studies of the two different language categories. Such errors need to be clarified and rectified.
