Since 1986, 89 leprosy patients (LL 36, BL 38 and BB 15) with the disease duration of one to 41 years have been treated with modified WHO-MDT. Among them, the time was 17 8 months for clearance of the skin lesions and 27 9 months for bacteriological negativity on the average and 47 cases (56%) have been cured within four years. The authors suggest that the treatment duration should be over four years.
