Approches to Models of Translation Ethics in Western Translation

伦理思想一直贯穿于西方两千多年的翻译实践中,翻译家们自觉或不自觉地接受并遵从某种价值观,因而不同时期、不同流派的翻译实践体现了不同的伦理取向。西方翻译伦理模式概括起来大致可分为五种:对等伦理模式、功能伦理模式、对话伦理模式、规范伦理模式以及差异伦理模式。各种模式不仅为特定的翻译策略或行为提供了理论上的合理性证明,同时也在一定程度上影响并塑造着一定时期的西方翻译理论与实践。

Ethical ideas permeate over two thousand years of translation practice of the West. Consciously or unconsciously translators accept and follow certain value, which gives a particular ethical color to the translation in different periods and schools. To sum up, there are five models of translation ethics, that is, equivalence - based ethics, function - based ethics, ethics of dialogue, norm - based ethics and ethics of difference. Those models not only offer theoretical justification to certain translation strategy, but also to some extent influence and model translation in a particular period.
