摘要
红细胞生成素(erythropoietin,EPO)作为细胞因子超家族中的一员,在体内和体外均显示出显著的神经保护功能。该作用可能主要通过抗凋亡、抗氧化、促进血管再生等机制实现。大剂量EPO能通过血脑屏障并发挥神经保护作用。EPO经人工改造后可消除造血系统不良反应。EPO的临床应用有望对神经系统疾病的预后及治疗提供新的思路。
Erythropoietin, a member of cytokine superfamily, has been recently proven to have distinct neuroprotective activity either in vivo or in vitro. Anti-apoptosis, antioxidation and proangiogenesis are believed to be the underlying mechanisms of EPO for neuroprotection. High doses of EPO can be transported across the blood-brain barrier and its modified form can be utilized without side-effect on the hematopoietic system. The clinical applications of EPO will provide new insight into the prognosis and treatment for various neurological diseases.
