As the Chu prince tomb on Xuzhou Beidong Hill yielded no standard sizhu and banliang coins, it can be believed that the terminal point of this tomb should be dated earlier than the fifth year of Wendi's reign when the two types of coins were began to be minted. Based on relevant literal records, the seals unearthed from the tomb are not offerings local officials presented at the mourning ceremony, and the toponyms in the legends all refer to places under the jurisdiction of the Chu Princedom before the third year of Jingdi' s Qianyuan reign (154BC), and so the tomb must have built prior to this year. Therefore, the present tomb should be dated earlier than the mausoleums of Chu princes on Shizi Hill and Tuolan Hill. In the light of the occupants of these two graves and the Chu prince pedigree it can be inferred that the Beidong Hill tomb owner was Liu Jiao, i.e. the Chu prince Yuanwang, who, soon after his death, was buried in the tomb that was built after his enfeoffment.
