摘要
"钺"是中国古代重要的兵器。它在各种文献中出现的频率极高,其形状与斧相似,却并非与斧一物。它的制作材料也有严格的等级区分。在长期的历史发展中,它的形制与功用均体现出浓厚的文化色彩,集多种功能于一身。它不但是劈砍的兵器,砍头的刑具,还是汉代以来官员乘舆的重要仪仗,也是王权的象征,古代将帅常常是仗钺征伐。
＂Yue＂ is an important weapon in ancient China. It appears in various documents highly frequently. Its form is similar to that of an axe, but actually it is not. Its manufacturing materials are strictly graded. In the long historical development, its form and function displays rich cultural color and it has many functions. ＂Yue＂ is not only a weapon for cutting and chopping but also an instrument for capital punishment. Besides, it is also an impor- tant decorative weapon for the official＇ s carriages since the Han Dynasty and a symbol of monarchical power. Ancient warriors often went to battle with ＂Yue＂.
