The Old Man and the Sea by Hemingway is a masterpiece in the world literature of the 20th century. In this novel, Hemingway promoted the heroism through describing an old fisherman＇s tife fighting with the vast sea and a great fish in his simple and precise language. The tragic conflicts between the hero＇s charac~（er and the natural law, the action and its result offer the reader a new reading experience in heroism mingled with tragic features.
