Population and unit are two important concepts in statistics. Some newly published books in recent years still using the traditional statement. This article puts forward some individual views about meanings of population and population unit, classification of population, duality of population during the statistical inquiry, and the transformational relation between population and population unit. It＇s hoped that these views will be helpful to the statement of population and unit. The views are not contradicting mathematical concepts of population and unit. The article gives a specific understanding on connection between population and unit.
