二战中法国的迅速败降使其国际地位一落千丈。"自由法国"屡遭美国的蔑视与排挤,战时的几次重大国际会议都没有法国代表的身影。欧洲战事结束后,法国得以跻身于联合国常任理事国行列并实现对德国的占领,表明法国国际地位得到显著提高。法国国际地位的提高不仅是戴高乐争取的结果,也是战后各大国在欧洲的战略思想所决定的,并由于法国特殊的历史和地理状况而得以实现。

The international status of France declined rapidly because of its collapse during the course of the Second World War. Free France suffered the distain of America so that the French deputation couldn＇t attend the important wartime conferences. As the war moved towards epilogue, France not only occupied Germany but also obtained a seat on the UN Security Council, which showed that the status of France advanced obviously. The elevation of French status is the result of not only General de Gaulle＇ s struggle, but also the great powers＇ strategic ideas in Europe. In addition, the change of French status was influenced by the special Anglo-French relations and the traditional geostrategy.
