湖湘文化之要义在敢为人先、经世致用、自强不息、勇敢尚武之精神,通论近代湖湘文化,实江湖与庙堂文化之融合,其草根性铸就湖人发奋诉求之心理,自咸同以降,湖湘文化以集团驱驰之势书写近代史,湖人引颈经世,略论近代湖湘文化,以期还近代史之本源。

The essence of Hunan culture lies in the pioneering spirit, bravery, advocacy of martial art, practical knowledge of managing state affairs and self-improvement In modern times, the general theory of Hunan Culture is an integration of cultures among common people and that in court. Therefore, it is the grass-root feature that forges Hunan people＇s spirit of hard working and exploring for the new. Since the late Qing dynasty, Hunan culture has influenced the development of the modern history, and Hunan people have taken the lead in managing state affairs. This paper makes a brief analysis of Hunan culture in modern times in the hope to restore the modem history to its original state.
