译者的妥协与反抗——从《毛泽东选集》和《邓小平文选》看意识形态对译者的影响

Translator’s Dilemma: Concession or Resistance——A Discussion on Impacts of Ideology on Translator

《毛泽东选集》和《邓小平文选》的英译本产生于两个完全不同的政治环境,前者处于中国极为敏感的文革期间,而后者产生于政治环境相对宽松的改革开放后。通过二者的对比,得出政治意识形态和译者个人的意识形态对译者产生的影响。译者一方面服从于政治主流意识形态,另一方面也有发挥自己主体性的要求,从而形成译者妥协和反抗并存的情形。

The English versions of Selected Works of Mao Tse-Tung and Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping are produced in totally different political conditions. The former is in the sensitive period of Chinese Cultural Revolution while the latter is after Chinese Opening Up. Through the comparison between these two translated versions, we can come to know that the ideology exerts a great impact on translator. The translator has to yield to the main political ideology, and at the same time, he will display his/her own subjectivity.
