A Pilot Study on the Physicochemical Characteristics of Hair among 41 Youth of Chinese Han

摘要 目的:分析41例汉族青年头发的物理化学特性,为毛发疾病的发病机制和治疗研究提供基础。方法:收集41例上海地区汉族青年的头发样品,使用氨基酸与多肽分析仪进行氨基酸定量分析,使用电镜观察并测量头发表面及横断面形态,应用偏光显微镜测量头发的吸水径向膨胀特性,应用纤维强力试验机检测头发的拉伸性能。结果:本研究中汉族青年头发的横截面短径为(83±9)μm,长径为(103±11)μm,横截面积为(6749±1215)μm2,椭圆率为(82±9)%。头发的吸水径向膨胀率为(9.7±2.2)%。头发的拉伸断裂强力为(1.577±0.240)N,断裂伸长率为(68.8±5.1)%。头发的氨基酸含量、横截面形态、吸水径向膨胀率及拉伸性能在男性和女性之间的差异均无统计学意义。结论:汉族青年头发的横截面形态接近圆形,头发横截面积较大,显示出较高的吸水径向膨胀率以及较强的拉伸力学性能。 Objective:To evaluate the physicochemical characteristics of hair fibers among 41 youth of Chinese Han, and to provide a theoretical basis both for further cosmetic product and dermatological medication. Methods: The hair samples were collected from 41 youth of Chinese Han in Shanghai. The amino acid makeup was analyzed by amino acid analyzer. The outer surface and cross section of hair were observed. The radial swelling of hair was determined by polarizing microscope. The tensile study of hair fiber was performed by mechanical testing machine. Results: The hair samples had a cylindric shape [Ellipticity (82 ± 9)%] and a large cross section ESection (6749 ± 1215)μm^2]. The water-swelling rate of hair was (9.7 ± 2.2)%. The hair samples appeared strong with breaking load (1. 577 ± 0. 240) N and strain at break (68.8±5.1 )%. There was no significant difference of amino acid composition, cross section morphology, radial swelling, or tensile property between male and female. Conclusion:The hair fibers of Chinese Hans in the present work has a cylindric shape with a larger cross section and dem onstrates a higher water swelling percentage and tensile property.
