明清八大家之一的曾国藩作为桐城派的中兴大将,在诗文作家论上提出"读书多,积理富"的观点,要求作家博览群书,善于借鉴历代作品的精华;认为作家必须具备放眼天下的宽广胸襟,培养"闲适之趣";作家还要有自己的个性,具有"倔强不驯之气"的精神风貌。

Zeng Guofan, one of the Eight Masters of Ming and Qing Dynasties, was regarded as resurgence senior general of Tongcheng School. He asked for authors to read extensively and to be good at drawing on the experience of ancient work＇s essence. He thought that writers must possess broadminded. In his eyes, an author needed his individual character and demanded full of vigour of stubborn.
