A Unique Style with a Novel Pattern——An Analysis on Zhang Zhongxing's Narrative Prose

著名作家张中行一生创作了大量的记叙性和哲理性散文。其记叙性散文形态新异、独树一帜,凭独特的题材和个性化的语言享誉文坛。在散文中张中行着力表现文人的意趣和文人独有的价值观;在题材关注和主题表达上与官方保持着相当的距离,因而作品呈现出明显的"非体制化"和布衣本色。其记人散文以"史家笔法"为主,力图还原人物的历史面貌;同时借助小说的白描手法,成功勾勒人物形象。但其部分作品也存在疏于选材和叙述交待过于细碎、内容芜杂琐屑等毛病。

Zhang Zhongxing, a famous writer, composes a lot of narrative and philosophical proses all his life. His narrative prose is so novel in form that they develop a school of their own. Zhang enjoys great prestige in the literary world for his unique themes and personalized language. In his prose, he concentrates his efforts on expressing the interest and charm and the unique values of men of letters. As far as subjects and themes are concerned, his prose presents a distinct non-systematization and reveals the true qualities of the grass roots, keeping a certain distance from the government. He focuses on the historian technique of writing and tries to restore the historical features of the figures. With the aid of the simple and straightforward style of writing in novels, his prose succeeds in delineating the images of the figures. However, in some of his works, there is neglect of selecting suitable materials and he goes a bit too far in detailed narration, which results in the trifling and disorderly contents, and displays endless chatter characterized by senior writers as well.
