LinShu , As the most famous novel translator in modem China, was unable to read western works directly because of his poor understanding about foreign languages. To all have known1 he have achieved marvellous accomplishment with the help of the direct interpreters. With comprison to the unmatched glol＇y of Lin＇ s^however,the contribution of the interpretors was inclined to be unnoticeable , After investigating related materials, this paper aimed at getting some basic informations about the interpreters and the cooperation between the direct and indirect translators, thus making a further understanding about these translators＇s function and status.
