Translation or Transfer—That is the Question:—Reflection on the Concept and Research Range of Translation from the Perspective of Polysystem Theory

本文从特拉维夫翻译学派代表人物埃文·左哈尔提出的多元系统论的角度对翻译的概念和研究范围进行思考，将翻译从传统的译文忠于原文的文本研究中解放出来，将之纳入由各种社会符号现象组成的“大多元系统”范围内。新翻译研究范围应既包括同一符号象征的文本和文本模式之间的迁移，也包括不同符号象征的文本和文本模式之间的迁移。

Reflecting on the concept and research range of translation from the perspective of polysystem theory, which is introduced by Even-Zohar, one of the representatives of Tel Aviv translation school, this paper tends to break through the traditional translation theory that emphasizes faithful translation, and attempts to put translation research into macro-polysystem which consists of various social semiotic symbols. The new translation research should include both the transfer of texts and models in the same semiotic symbols and the transfer involving a change of semiotic symbols.
