福克纳的许多作品中的人物都影射基督，人物影射基督是福克纳现代神话大厦的支柱。然而对于他的许多作品里为什么都存在人物暗示基督的问题，国内没有学者从纯宗教意义的方向去探讨。《喧哗与骚动》（以下简称为《喧》）纯宗教主题的确立，其中一个独特手段就是将白痴和抽象化相联系，进而从白痴人物行为和话语以及叙述者的叙述中提取出这些神话中所蕴涵的深层意义和终极意义，使读者领略到福克纳现代神话的现实宗教意义和创作动机。

Lots of characters in Faulkner＇ s works allude to Christ, but no domestic scholars discuss, from a purely religious perspective, the cause of it. The Sound and the Fury has its purely religious theme, by one of whose peculiar ways the idiot Benji is associated with abstraction, and through this abstraction, the underlying and the ultimate meaning remains from his words and behaviors as a character and from his narration as a narrator, so as to enable the readers to understand Faulkner＇ s modern nature of religion as his motivation of creation of his modem myths.
