With the formation and devdopment of Chinese phonology, monks played a very important role at it. When learning the Indian phonology, they found the difference between the Sanskrit and Chinese in sound. Then a lot of monks threw themselves into the research d the Chinese phonology, which made Chinese phonology have a further development. This paper synthetically analyzed and discused the relation between monks and Chinese phonology study, their achievements and their influence.
