Chen Yuan＇s Explanations and Examples of Textual Criticism summarized in a detailed and concentrated way the rules and methods of collating ancient books, comprehensively collected and analyzed the errors in The Collections of Yuan Documents and distilled four methods of collation. In addition, the book is innovative in that it adopted horizontal type-setting and conformed to the historical trend and thus promotes the compilation and organization of ancient books.
