During the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games - whenever the beginning at the bidding for Olympics in 2000, the 7 years of the preparation stage from 2001-2008, even today it closed, when it's remarked the "truly exceptional Games" and "These are the greatest Paralympic Games EVER", the 3 most frequently questions about the Olympic facilities that I was asked for are: what effect will the Olympic bring to Beijing's urban development? How the planning and design of the Olympic Park, Beijing National Stadium (Bird's Nest) and National swimming and diving center (Water Cube) were chose? What's the meaning of the post-Games sustainable use of Olympic facilities and its heritage? In fact, these 3 issues is the core content from the staged strategic targets to detail works of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Chi- nese advocate "far-sightedness, go afar," At the initial planning stage, our target is not only the Olympic itself. So, the result is beyond the games, it refers to the country and city's politic, economic, culture, education, science, technology and social mass, etc. Now, It might be too early to evaluate the general effect. The article attempts to answer the 3 above questions in the view of city planning and architectural practice.
