撒路斯提乌斯是罗马共和时期的政治家、史家。他的作品无论在选材上、写作上都有自己的独到之处。他从当代政治、军事事件入手,以道德为评价准绳,尽量客观地描述了公元前2世纪至公元前后罗马社会的发展状况,他的写作特点和他的史学思想对后来罗马和西方史家有一定影响。

Gaius Sallust Crispus was the politician and historiographers in the Republic of Rome age, whose works are very Unique in terms of selecting and writing. He described, objectively as much as possible, Roman society from 2 B.C. till A.D. from the view of political and military events with morality as measurement. Later Roman and Western historiographers have been influenced to some extend by his writing style and philosophy.
