南朝民歌缘情绮靡,它在内容题材上以描写女性爱情为主,艺术手法精致,风格清丽活泼,形式上以五、七言四句为主等特点无不影响着同时代以及后来文人诗作,主要表现在当时的文人拟作、宫体诗和随后的隋唐文人诗作。南朝民歌在一定程度上促进了绝句和律诗的发展。

It takes the form of Five--Character--Four Lines or Seven--Character--Four Lines. The influence of the folk song in the Nan Dynasty on the contemporary poets and afterwards poets is enormous. It shows its influence in the imitation of the contemporary poets, royal poems and the poems in the Sui and Tang Dynasty. It also promotes the development of quatrain and regulated verse.
