On the Incubation Process of the Topics of English Majors’Theses

高校英语专业本科毕业论文题目普遍存在"泛、大、陈、浅"及共选率偏高的毛病,其根本原因在于前松后紧的论文题目孵化过程和机械单一的孵化方式。提高论文题目质量的根本出路在于:重视基础阶段科研意识的培育,延长题目孵化时间,丰富题目孵育手段,改进题目孵育方式,将选题技能训练融化到平时的教学活动中,通过任务式研究与写作,实现选题瓶颈的突破。

Topics of English majors＇ theses are universally found to be broad, big, old and superficial. It is also a common phenomenon that quite a few students share the same topic. The root causes of these problems are the slack work in the early period of topic-incubation process and a single way of incubation. The fundamental ways of improving thesis topics are to attach importance to the cultivation of students＇ awareness of scientific research at the early stage, to extend the topic-incubation period, and to enrich and improve the methods of topic incubation. In order to break through the bottleneck of topic selection, skills of searching topics must be practiced through task-based research and writing in regular teaching activities.
