A PCI ROM protection algorithm based on DMI verify

PCI ROM广泛存在于显卡、网卡、RAID卡、硬盘保护卡等PCI设备中。通过对PCI、SMBIOS、DMI规范和相关算法的研究,介绍了DMI的功用,探讨了DMI在BIOS中的位置及通过SMBIOS访问DMI的方式,说明了POST代码处理ROM的流程。针对PCI ROM保护的问题,提出了一种通过校验DMI来决定是否执行PCI ROM的方法。

PCI ROM widely exist in VGA cards,network interface cards,RAID devices, hard disk protection card. By studying the specification of PCI, SMBIOS, DMI and related algorithm. Introducing the function of DMI, Discussing the location of DMI in the bios and the way of accessing DMI by SMBIOS,Explaining the process of handling ROM by POST code. This article presents a method of verifying DMI to decide whether to run the PCI ROM for the question of PCI ROM protection.
