Despite the large amount of research on Dewey＇s influence on modern China＇s education, there have been relatively few studies of the influence of Dewey＇s pragmatic education concept on China＇s modern higher education. Dewey＇s influence on China＇s higher education is obvious when one looks at the way Chinese institutions of higher learning are run, how teaching and research are carried out there, how higher education provides services for society, and what kind of people serve as university administrators. A full understanding of the impact of Dewey＇s pragmatic education concept on China＇s modern higher education is important for grasping the transformation and development of China＇s higher education.
