Discussion on the Autobiography Characteristics of Japanese "Self" Novels

在关于日本"私"小说的诸多定义中,大都涉及到了作家的自传或具有自传性的特征这样的概念。但实际上,"私"小说与西方自传存在着文体上的根本差异。"私"小说的自传性特征也只能说是通过作者构成"私"小说作品的一部分,从而在读者与作者和作品之间建立起阅读的契约性关系,在整体上巧妙地发挥了日本独特的文艺特色。

In the definitions of Japanese＂self＇novel, Most of them are related to writer＇s autobiography or autobiography novel. In practice, however, Japanese＂self＇novel is quite different from the western autobiography in the stylistics. The autobiographic characteristics of＂self＇novel is that the author has become one part of the＂self＇novel, thus building up a contract relation of reading among readers, authors and works, and cleverly giving play to the unique Japanese artistic characteristics on the whole.
