The paper introduces an approach to classify the patents owned by a company and its competitors for patent analysis and management, which is based on co-citation analysis of bibliometrics. The paper also makes a discussion about some problems involved in the approach, such as the source of patent citation data, emendation of patent citation data and the process method for those non-classification patents.
