With the fast development of science and technology, there emerges a new economic formation, namely, the knowledge economy. This indicates that the 21 st century is a century of knowledge economy. Institutes of higher learning are the carriers of knowledge creation, knowledge popularization and utilization.They play decisive roles in the era of knowledge economy. This article aims to explore the opportunities and challenges knowledge economy brings and to establish the new concept of peopleoriented sustainable sports education.
