The term "cyberfeminism", appeared at the beginning of 1990s, is used to refer to the vibrant interactions among women and the feminist activities in cyberspace. It can be roughly presented by two schools of thinking: Donna Haraway's metaphor of cyborg and Sadie Plant's ideas on the relationship between women and technology. By delineating the development of cyberfeminism, the present essay strives to explore the reasons why this once hot theoretical topic has been cooling down in the new millennium. The essay concludes that since cyberfeminism has a positive role in understanding the relationship between gender and technology, its theory and praxis are still necessary in this male-dominated cyberculture. The voices of the cyberfeminists should be enlarged rather than suffocated by the pornographic images in cyberspace.
