City DNA: Modern Application of History and Culture in the Process of Urbanization

中国的城市是由自然城衍化而来的,传承了许多历史文化资源,其独特性足以对抗现代城市建设中的一些现实问题。首先,要根据每个自然城的文化特征定义城市性格,然后在该定义之下规划城市,并将历史文化资源作合理的现代性转化。本文结合浙江的现实,从这三个方面对浙江城市文化的建设进行了总结和建议,以文化为核心建设具备中国特色的现代城市。

Cities in China evolved from natural settlements which inherit many historical and cultural resources with their special features that could resist many problems in the construction of modem cities. Firstly, the character of a city needs to be identified according to its natural settlement. Secondly, the city is to be planned according to the identification and a rational modem transfer to be made of the historical and cultural resources to modem application. Based on the realistic situations in Zhejiang province, the paper makes a review and proposal of the cultural construction in cities. The construction of a city with culture as its core element is a city with Chinese characteristics.
