This paper aims to explore emotional essence and aesthetic connotations of ballet. French Royal Ballet to modem ballet dance, the author intends to study and interpret the theme and subject matter in the hope of proposing a model to look at the change of subject From the change of matter for ballet dance. The development of ballet dance can be divided into several stages from criteria of humanistic esthetics, poetic esthetics and classical esthetics. The mystery of ballet tragedy is to enhance its beauty to the extreme and to endow it with a sense of destruction, indicating a strong sense of ideological implication. The author also believes that the eternal charm of ballet in the real world lies in its substantial beauty that stays in the audience soul and plays a permanent function of catharsis. Only by referring to historical study and theories of cultural reception can we reasonably interpret and analyze the profound connotation of ballet dance.
