On Rhetorical Functions of Asyndeton,Polysyndeton and Their Combined Use in Texts

无连接结构和多连接结构是两种句法和语篇层面的修辞格,以往在修辞和文体研究中未受到重视。这两个结构及其结合的运用能够起到调整节奏,营造氛围,加强语气,激发情感等修辞作用,使某些意义得以前景化,并使语篇获得形象生动的效果,从而提高读者对作者意图和作品思想的理解和欣赏水平。

As figures of speech at and above the sentence level, asyndeton and polysyndeton so far have not received adequate attention in rhetorical studies and stylistic analyses. The use and combined use of these two structures may perform the rhetorical functions of adjusting rhythm, building atmosphere, intensifying tones and arousing emotions in texts, thus foregrounding certain senses and making the texts vivid, so that the reader＇s understanding of the writer＇s intention and what he tries to convey in his works is enhanced.
