摘要
胡适的文化思想存在着明显的矛盾之处,他对中国传统文化时而猛烈批判,时而热烈赞扬。关于中国文明的未来,他既"提倡全盘西化",又强烈要求传统文化的复兴。然而在这些表面矛盾之下,仍然有其内在逻辑。以"价值一元论"为根本的出发点,胡适肯定人类共同的本质和价值追求,并进而确立了人类文化的普遍本质。文化的本质和基本要素都是一样的,中国文化中的优秀成分造就了中国文明过去的辉煌,西洋文化近代以来的核心要素促成了西洋文明当下的先进。这几个观点的相互融合,就是胡适文化思想表面矛盾之下的内在逻辑。
The point of whether Hu-shih was a supporter of whole Westemization is under discussion. This paper suggests that Hu-shih is an advocator of whole Westemization in the field of cultural development, and this viewpoint is based on Monism. Grounded on Monism, Hu-shih thinks there exists human nature, and thus the essence of different cultures is in common because culture essence is decided by human nature. In Hu-shih' s opinion, there has a road, with which every nation's culture must go through, and Chinese culture was lagged too much behind Western culture. Deduced from Monism, Hushih thinks whole Westernization is the only way of Chinese cultural development.
