摘要
歧义现象是指一个语言片断可以作两种或两种以上的语义理解。歧义的形成涉及语言学各个方面,给英语教学和言语交际带来许多问题。结构歧义是英语中较为常见的一种歧义现象。从图形-背景理论视角,通过言语交际中实例的分析,对结构歧义进行认知理解,有助于英语教学和语言交流。
Ambiguity indicates that a section of a sentence has two or more than two different explanations or semantic interpretations, which involves all aspects of linguistics and brings about a variety of problems in teaching and communicating. Structural ambiguity is a common phenomenon. This paper focuses on structural ambiguity in cognitive perspective based on Figure-ground Theory through analyzing specific examples. It involves the formation of English structural ambiguity, causes and some suggestions of eliminating ambiguity in applying English. It helps English teaching and language communication.
