In his masterpiece, On the Vocation of Scholars, Fichte, by using the vocation of the person-in-himself as the basis of his argument, elaborated the vocation of the person-in-society. He pointed out that scholars fell into the class of the person-in-society after making a discussion about the division of such persons＇ work and maintained that scholars devoted themselves to the production and the distribution of knowledge and their vocation was to serve society and improve human beings＇ morality.
