Jane Austen was not good at describing strong feeling. Instead, she was considered by readers and critics as spokesman and practitioner who sought peace, prudence, introversion and wisdom. She was a novelist whose idea tended to be conservative and who tried to maintain tradition. Her novel Emma was most mature. In the novel, piano Frank give to Jane had rich symbolic meaning. It was the link of romantic love as well as the embodiment of contradiction of life view of openness and conservation. It was a tool for Emma to get education. It was an irreplaceable property. The love story behind the piano showed Austen's other attitude toward love and life.
