恩格斯在编辑出版《资本论》第三卷过程中,根据马克思在《资本论》第二卷第二篇所阐述的原理,补写了第四章《周转对利润率的影响》,在量的规定上补充了马克思的利润学说。同时,恩格斯从资本家对利润的追求进一步论证了生产力的发展受到资本主义生产关系的限制,从资本主义使用机器的限制指明了资本主义生产方式的历史局限性。恩格斯批判了西方经济学者在价值和生产价格关系上的错误理论,捍卫了科学的劳动价值理论和生产价格理论。

In the process of editing and publishing the third volume of 'Das Kapital', Engles wrote the fourth chapter of The Effect of Turnover on the Rate of Profit' based on the principles Marx wrote in the second chapter of volume two 'Das Kapital'. Meanwhile, Engles further discussed that the development of productive force was constrained by capitalist production relation based on the capitalists' pursuit of profits, the historical limitation of capitalist mode of production was pointed from the limitation of the use of machinery. Engles criticized the erroneous theory of Western economic scholars on value and production price, championed scientific labor theory of value and production price theory.
