Jamie, the elder son of Mr. Tyrone and Mary in Eugene O＇Neill＇s family tragedy Long Day＇s Journey into Night, was a miserable person with no accomplishment of any kind to his credit, spending all day long idling. He was pessimistic about everything, suffering from the personality splitting during the wandering between the love and hatred of the families. This essay aims at revealing the indispensable relationship between Jamie＇s deformed personalities and his bitter childhood experiences.
