图一： 《恶魔罗勃》舞台效果图，1831年巴黎大歌剧院希策里（Ciceri）的制作。《恶魔罗勃》是迈耶贝尔脍炙人口的歌剧作品之一，这幅舞台效果图出自修道院场景，在圣罗萨琳女修道院里罗勃违反教规到圣徒巴勒摩的墓地去砍了具有神力的魔枝准备献给心上人伊莎贝拉。从这个场景里我们可以看到典型的法国大歌剧传统，舞台中央偏左的罗勃手持魔枝高高举起，两边是两组芭蕾队伍，这是一群不顾教义在修道院里疯狂舞蹈的修女们。

Giacomo Meyerbeer was a noted composer born in Ger- many.In 1813,his first opera was produced.By 1816,he went on to Venice to emulate Rossini's success. Meyerbeer is now known as the first great exponent of grand op- era.Among his renowned works are Robert le Diable (1831),Les Hugue- nots (1836),Le prophète (1849) and L'africaine(1865).Meyerbeer was an important influence on Wagner and his early operatic success,Rien- zi.
