There are large-sized stone-sculptured animals among the archaeological remains of Eastern Han period known so far in the Sichuan reign. Most of them are recorded in front of tombs, and a part of them occur at city-gates. These sculptures feature multiple double-wings and can be assigned to the type of winged mythical animals. Their emergence must have been closely related to Sino-foreign cultural exchange in the Eastern Han period. Meanwhile, these works have important significance to researching into the origin and spreading route of stone sculptures of the Southern Dynasties period. The localities of their provenance and distribution indicate that the Eastern Han stone animals discovered in Sichuan provide new evidence for researching into the "Southern Silk Road" remaining little known in archaeology for a long time.
