Cross-Cultural Learning and Translation of Characters and Words

文化和翻译有着密不可分的关系,译者不但要有双语能力,而且还要有双文化甚至多文化的知识。由于语言之间、不同表达方式之间存在诸多文化差异,翻译建立文化对等的方法也有所不同。在跨文化的词汇翻译方面,译者可以从下面几个途径加以考虑,选择合适的翻译方法:1)直译;2)代换法;3)音译法;4)增词法;5)解释;6)对应法。

There is a close relationship between culture and translation. Therefore a translator should not only be bilingual, but also be thoroughly familiar with different cultures. While one translates the source language .one is inevitably introducing the culture it embodies. The aim of translation is, partly, to establish cultural equivalence between the source text and the target text This paper discusses cross cultural translation of characters and words and six procedures are mentioned： 1） Word-for-word translation; 2 ） Translation of replacement; 3 ） Complimenting translation; 4） Meaning-Translation, 5） Explanation; 6） Equivalent translation.
