The advantages oftrivalent chromium passivation over hexavalent chromium passivation were expatiated through comparison of the two processes. The effects of individual procedure (including Zn plating, bright dipping, passivating, rinsing and drying) and impurity ions (such as Zn^2+ and Fe^3+) on the performance of passivation coating were discussed. The process control and impurity ion removal were introduced.
