Clearly,with the news as it is,searching for even moderately positive signs that the dry bulk sector will emerge from the current down-turn sooner rather than later,will be difficult. But although Intercargo's roles do not normally extend into territory traditionally occupied by analysts,the author would like to share some thoughts on why there are reasons to be optimistic in the current climate. First and foremost,shipping is and has always been a cyclical business and most of us who have been involved in shipping for a long time have never believed that shipping would totally escape the laws governing demand and supply. For many owners,the last few years have seen unprecedented returns with the length of the bull-run longer than in any living memory. But now with a combination of problems in the Banking World and a down-turn in the real economy,people may well be faced with the prospect of too few ships chasing too few cargoes.
