摘要
谢默斯·希尼不仅是一位著名的诗人,而且是一位卓越的翻译家。根据古爱尔兰经典诗歌重译而成的《迷途的斯威尼》是希尼的第一部翻译作品。本文旨在通过考察译本产生的历史语境、阐释译者翻译策略的文化意图,探讨希尼译本的文化意涵。希尼以斯威尼故事为北爱文化困境的隐喻,采用流畅策略、删改和前景化等翻译手段,为北爱尔兰因文化差异引起的身份纷争提供可参照的解决平台。
Seamus Heaney is not only a world-famous poet but a prestigious translator. Based on the canonic Irish poem Buile Suibhne,the new version of Sweeney Astray is Heaney's first try in translation. This paper aims at disclosing the cultural significance of Sweeney Astray by analyzing the historical context from the 1970s to 1980s and the translator's strategies. The paper argues that the Sweeney story serves as a metaphor for Northern Irish cultural dilemma and Sweeney Astray is intended to offer some references for the solution to the identity issue caused by cultural differences within Northern Ireland.
