Implicature/Explicature Distinction: A Cognitive Approach

从隐喻和转喻的角度来审视含义和显义的区分,以便发现语用和认知研究相互兼容的结合点。探讨了impli-cature和explicature的基本概念及其汉语译法,然后提出概念映射应该列入显义推导的重要手段之一;运用Fauconni-er&Turner(1995)的心理空间理论来解释含义、显义的划分,以及隐喻和转喻在含义、显义生成过程中的作用。

This paper attempts to examine the relevance -theoretic implicature/explicature distinction in connection to metaphor and metonymy, in order to make both the pragmatic and the cognitive approaches compatible. First of all, we offered some basic knowledge about implicature and explicature, and discussed the translation of these two terms into Chinese as well. Then, we proposed that conceptual mappings have to be added to the list of explicature - deriving mechanisms. Finally, we explored the role of metaphor and metonymy in the production of explicatures and implicatures, in connection with Fauconnier ＆ Turner＇ s theory of conceptual projection, within which the implicature/explicature distinction may find its place in Cognitive Linguistics.
