摘要
《红楼梦》和《红字》诞生于不同的国度,却都运用了"红色意象"象征的手法。文章试图以美学批评为基本的立场方法,以文化符号学为考察的出发点,对这两部小说作初步的平行研究,以寻求其中含有的审美趣味和价值取向,并揭示造成不同的审美趣味和价值取向背后,"红色意象"在东西方隐含的不同的宗教、哲学、文化背景。
The two great masterpieces, A DREAM OF THE RED MANSION and THE SCARLET LETTER, appeared in two different countries and both employed the technique of "red image". This article compares the red images in the two novels to explore their different cultural and ideological background. It adopts the method of cultural semiotics and focuses on the imagism within the two novels.
